Who was harmed
Victims
The men found in the basement are the people this case harmed. Police described roughly 30 of them, most 18 years old, partially clothed and covered in food, condiments and other liquids, in a room heated to 81 degrees. Several had fresh red marks consistent with being physically assaulted.
Their names have not been released by police, the university or any of the outlets covering the case. Some of the men present may also be treated as witnesses, and the university said its Office of Student Conduct would look into implicated students — so being harmed and being responsible for the event are not the same thing, and no participant other than the two arrested officers has been publicly identified.
